Running to the Monuments

Since, I hadn't worked out in a while, I decided to go for a run and luckily Haley decided to join as well. We thought it would be great to do a short run and walk the monuments. So that is what we did. Thanks to my apple watch, you can see a nice map of both.

On our run, we still were very unfamiliar with the area since we were on the other side of the river in relation to the monuments. Little did we know that as we were running we would pass by Castel Sant' Angelo. We said out loud "wow, thats cool, I wonder what it is." The run seemed to take our mind off the consideration of looking it up.

This run left us with so many bug bites, but it was so gorgeous. The bridges were beautiful. There was even a cool restaurant on the water that we will be going back to at some point as well.

When we came up the stairs after our run (photos above), we instantly were in a different feel of the city. It felt a little more like what you'd expect downtown Rome to be like.

First, we went to find the Spanish Steps and were amazed with the city on the way.

Not only that, but we found the nicest McDonalds I have ever seen. It started out looking like a cafe with a hallway to the back room where it opened up to seating for nearly 250 people.

Then, we finally made it to the Trevi Fountain. It was crazy to look at. Thinking about how it was created just left me in awe. There was so much more detail than I thought there would be. However, the amount of tourists there was expected. Check it out!

Lastly, we walked over to the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. When we approached these monuments I was speechless. I have never used the word "wow" more than any other time. The images speak for themselves.

Overall, it was a great 4.5 mi walk. Our phones ended up dying when we found a place to eat but not before I got to get a photo of the lovely pizza I had.

Heres a fun map to look at our path:
