The ROMEing Begins

After a long flight and too much plane food, I made it to Europe for my first time ever! With no time to pause, I went straight through a smaller orientation to ensure we had the wifi, ID cards, understanding of important information, and our rooms. Our biggest campus, the Tiber campus is located right on the river and is gorgeous. The drive here was a 50 minute gorgeous bus ride where we could see a lot of different areas of Rome. The trees were something that shocked me being from California. They are so much larger here and prominent in the city.
After orientation and some unpacking, a group of us went to explore the area. We went to lunch and then I went to the grocery store and let me tell you how shocked I was when I figured out the first two visible rooms were not the only areas of the grocery store. There was so much more space in the back. Rather than square shaped grocery stores, this market felt like a never ending complex polygon. Quite entertaining to explore I have to say.
Later on, we walked some more to hunt for a dinner spot and we saw many beautiful restaurants near the campus. Thinking back to how people told me there was great food everywhere in Italy, I now understand how correct they were. Everything just tasted better. Even the environment just felt more alive, yet relaxed. We ended our night with some gelato and never could I ever had said I would think an apple pie gelato would be good, but here I am saying it - it was amazing. I ended up going to bed decently early after being up for way too long.
Ciao,
Monroe in Rome
